Zi Y. Wong assists clients with protecting inventions, building patent portfolios, and developing offensive and defensive competitive strategies using patents. His practice focuses on domestic and international patent prosecution, portfolio management and analysis, and counseling on infringement, validity, and patentability.
Zi represents clients in variety of high technology areas. He has over two decades of experience in areas such semiconductors and optical systems. Zi has deep experience with display systems (including virtual and augmented reality display devices, and also traditional display screens), semiconductor fabrication (including fabrication equipment and processes), discrete and integrated semiconductor devices, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), illumination devices, and memory technologies, such as flash and phase change memories.
Zi has represented clients ranging from start-up companies to established, publicly-traded companies. Representative engagements include Magic Leap Inc., Hover Inc., ASM International N.V., Qualcomm Inc., HP Inc., and Micron Technology.
Zi was a partner at Knobbe, Martens, Olson and Bear LLP for 16 years before joining Villamar and Guiliana LLP as a partner in 2023.
